Ryan Brune is employed by Ohio State’s Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence, where he serves as a Lead Engineer specializing in materials-related project work. He earned his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at OSU in 2016, where his research focused on characterizing pressure distributions of high velocity metal forming and dissimilar metal welding operations. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio Northern University. Ryan currently works on a wide array of research topics at CDME, including metal and polymer based additive manufacturing, agile tooling injection molding, high pressure aluminum alloy die casting, and dissimilar metal joining technologies. Ryan recently began working with the Osteo Engineering Laboratory to lead the development of soft tooling approaches for surge-kit response cases, assist with the production of chaotic lamina bioreactor systems, and contribute to the efforts of NiTi stiffness-matched additively manufactured bone implants.
