Nafees Sathik is an undergraduate research assistant, working towards a Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience from the Ohio State University. His current research is focused on understanding the cell seeding capabilities of the polymer Isosorbide. Nafees has worked with other types of photocrosslinkable polymers such as PPF and has aided in the 3-D printing of scaffolds comprised of these materials. Nafees has run studies on PPF to test the confluence rates of hMSCs on fine and coarse shaped PPF scaffolds. Nafees has also be a part of the Bone ECM project, conducting procedure like SEM fixation and presto blue assaying. Nafees has also been involved with NITI fixation plates on sheep mandibles project through assisting in monitoring, CTing and analzying sheep mandibles using AMIRA. In addition, Nafees was a part of the iCorps@Ohio team in the Osteoengineering lab, assisting to conduct interviews with professionals who work with resorbable metals and their importance in bone healing. Nafees has also been active in assisting writing and editing manuscripts.
